Former youth in care in BC of all ages will have their tuition waived for post-secondary education as the government takes action to remove age requirements for the Tuition Waiver Program.
In 2017, the BC government developed the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program that waived tuition and fees for former youth in care between 19 and 26. Effective Aug. 1, 2023, this expanded tuition waiver will be made available to all BC former youth in care at any age as part of StrongerBC’s Future Ready plan to make education and training more accessible and affordable.

Alberta has promised $200 million in funding for post-secondary health-care programs as part of its latest budget.
Health Minister Jason Copping said in a news conference Monday at the University of Alberta in Edmonton that the funding would help train an additional 3,400 health-care professionals.
“Our ability to recruit and retain doctors is a top priority for our government,” Copping said. “One of the best ways to do this is to make sure that there are more opportunities for Albertans to train and work closer to where they live.”

In the “Dear Colleague Letter” guidance, entitled (GEN-23-03) Requirements and Responsibilities for Third-Party Services and Institutionsthe definition of third-party services has been significantly expanded to include student recruiting and retention services, developing curriculum and course materials, delivering instruction, assessing student learning, and disseminating marketing materials.
