In an effort to provide additional child care spaces to young families, the provincial government introduced a pilot program to provide child care in kindergarten classrooms across B.C.
On Monday, it was announced that more families will soon be able to access the program.
“This program right here is the start. We start off our students and our learners and our families in a good way every day and we can start this program. We can move them along through the school system,” said Rob Zandee, board chair of School District 53.

May 22—It’s the kind of educational ranking West Virginia officials actually don’t mind reading about.
That’s because the Mountain State just placed near the top in the nation, in being able to provide pre-kindergarten education to its youngest students.
West Virginia ranked sixth in those offerings to 4-year-olds, according to a recent study by the National Institute for Early Education Research, which is housed at Rutgers University.
The Mountain State came in just behind the District of Columbia, Florida, Oklahoma and Iowa in the study, which was released last week.
