The education sector has requested the Manitoba provincial government to take another look at how it funds schools to ensure adequate division.Education Minister Wayne Ewasko announced the government will meet with divisions and stakeholders to ensure “all feedback is considered” in terms of how school divisions earn money.

Education Minister Bernard Drainville is dismissive of teachers when he insinuates that they are deserving less of a significant pay raise than MNAs, according to Liberal MNA Marwah Rizqy.
In an interview with Le Devoir on Monday, Drainville was asked why Quebec teachers don’t deserve to be among the highest paid in Canada, while MNAss are on their way to becoming so.
The CAQ government introduced a bill to increase the pay of MNAs in the national assembly by 30 per cent. Teachers have been offered at least a 9 per cent increase over five years.

New Brunswick education minister Bill Hogan said a review of a policy designed to protect LGBTQ2 youth in schools would include consultation with a variety of stakeholders, but some groups are wondering why they have yet to receive a call.The review of Policy 713, which sets minimum inclusion standards for LGBTQ2 students in the province’s school system, was launched a month ago and Hogan told reporters on Wednesday that the results will be announced in two weeks. The Quebec government announced Wednesday that it’s upping its offers for education and healthcare workers in the hopes of reaching collective agreements with unions.
According to Treasury Board president Sonia LeBel, the government is offering a $12,000 lump sum to retirement-eligible teachers who voluntarily agree to remain full-time in 2023-2024.
Quebec estimates that nearly 7,000 teachers will be eligible for this offer in the next school year.
In addition, $143 million will extend bonuses for health and social services workers until the end of the summer.
