High school students are once again being welcomed to CNC, UNBC, and Northern Health to get a sample of post-secondary healthcare education.
Fifty pre-selected students in grades 10 and 11 will join in the three-day program which the college says will cover a variety of fields, including “medicine, sonography, dentistry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychiatry, nursing, and chemistry. ”
The program, called “Adventures in Healthcare,” runs from May 8-10.
CNC, UNBC, and Northern Health will each take a day to host the students, but was also made possible by School District 57 and Rotary of Prince George: Yellowhead.
“The three-day program is an amazing opportunity for students to explore a wide range of health care related fields before deciding what path they want to pursue in the future,” said Erin Thomas, District Career Education Coordinator for SD57.
The program ran from 2017-2019 before being shut down due to the pandemic.
CNC says many students who took part are now attending post-secondary institutions, or have graduated in the healthcare field.
