MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – Muskegon County health department’s services have moved away from the downtown area to the county’s new Marquette Campus.
The move recently was made from the health department’s location on Apple Avenue.
Muskegon County is consolidating operations from various locations, including some that were at the hall of justice and its South Campus at 209 East Apple Ave.
Health department operations that have moved to the Marquette Campus are community outreach and engagement, health education, maternal and child health, breast feeding peer counselors, epidemiology, inspections and permits, environmental health, MSU Extension, hearing and vision and administration services.
The health department’s Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program and clinical services will move to the Marquette Campus on Monday, April 24.
The new Muskegon County campus is at the site of Baker College on the corner of Marquette Avenue and Quarterline Road. That’s across from Muskegon Community College.
Last year, the county purchased the 300,000-square-foot campus that became too large for Baker College’s needs.
Baker College continues to lease space at the campus, though officials have said it is planning to move to downtown Muskegon. It already operates its Culinary Institute of Michigan there.
The county is leasing space to other organizations at its new campus.
Public Health – Muskegon County is co-located with Baker College in the college’s Health Sciences Center, which was opened in 2014 at a cost of $8 million. Its entrance at Door 23 is off of Quarterline.
